Morphological study of solid waste
The objective of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Programme is to support the Government of Uzbekistan in strengthening their national capacities to effectively and efficiently plan for, access, manage, deploy and monitor climate financing in particular through the GCF. These activities will be planned and implemented in line with national policies and priorities. The Programme will target two important aspects of the GCF approach, access to funds and private sector engagement, both of which will require significant preparatory work before GCF financing will be possible at scale.
Solid Waste Management Location:
Tashkent, Ferghana, Khorezm, Bukhara, Surkhandariya regions
- Identify contact persons at places from local authorities, State Committee for Nature Protection of Uzbekistan, SES, Makhalla Fund for obtaining support in conducting a study of the morphological composition and determining the rate of accumulation of the SW; - Identify urban-rural landfills and agree with local authorities, including waste collection points for the study of morphological composition; - Identify the list of makhallas, where used a “signal” method of SW collection, for conducting morphological study; - Collect information about population, methods and periodicity of collecting solid waste in selected communities of target regions; - Prepare a passport of the object, which includes information about a landfill, population number, number of enterprises engaged in solid waste collection, number of vehicles used, volume of waste taken-out to the landfill, approach and system used for solid waste collection, etc.; - Ensure availability of necessary tools and materials required for the study, including selection of waste sorters for analysis of the solid waste.
