Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Turkey are planning to hold next session of intergovernmental joint commission in 2017.

The decision was adopted at the meeting of Interim president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Samarkand.

Two leaders reached agreement to hold next session of intergovernmental joint commission in Tashkent in the early 2017.

Within the session of the commission, it is planned to organize an Uzbek-Turkish Investment Forum.

Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkey made up US$1.2 billion in 2015. It is expected that the growth rate will be kept in 2016 as well.

At the same time, the sides noted that the figure do not reflect potential of the countries. They noted that in next several years trade turnover can be increased 2-3 times.

Currently, there are 500 companies and firms of Turkey in Uzbekistan. The volume of Turkish investments into Uzbekistan exceeds US$1 billion.
